Hey there!

Hey there! It’s Alena. I'm in 4th grade, and I like books. That’s why I decided to do a book review blog. Obviously, I like pandas, and I couldn’t come up with a name until I saw the panda stickers I’ve got all over my wall. I hope you enjoy books as much as I do, or else reading this blog would be useless!

Where The Mountain Meets the Moon

Title: Where The Mountain Meets the Moon

Author: Grace Lin

Where I got it: Started reading it at school, couldn’t put it down, so I checked it out at the city library.

Where The Mountain Meets the Moon. Doesn’t it sound like one of the title’s of those books that get really boring in the middle? Well, if you’re normal you would probably think that. Apparently, I’m not normal because as soon as I read that title I thought it was going to be exciting. It’s about a girl named Minli who lives with her parents in the valley of “Fruitless” Mountain. Their family is really poor because the ground doesn’t really agree with the rice seeds. Unfortunately, they grow rice for a living. So Minli sets off to see the Old Man of the Moon. On the way, she meets a dragon who can`t fly, encounters greedy monkeys, helps a talking goldfish, and much more!

I liked this book because it`s got adventure. I’m the type of girl who likes adventure books more than science fiction with weird aliens and stuff. Plus, it`s one of those books that mostly change gears from chapter to chapter, so you know what`s happening between Minli and her parents. I really like books that let you know what’s going on in different places. Let’s say Minli was doing something adventurous and Ma and Ba (Minli’s parents) were looking for her and met someone who would become their friend later on. If it didn’t switch point of view in chapters, then you would have wondered how that person got to be Ma and Ba’s friend, and you would just be completely clueless.

I hope you like this book as much as I did.

Thanks for reading! Bye!*  Read this Book
